Staple Hill Community Hub
AIMS AND MISSION
Our aim is to help improve the quality of life for the residents of Staple Hill by delivering and supporting activities that tackle the various dimension of deprivation that exist in the area. The project will deliver a twice weekly lunch club, two friendship clubs for the elderly, access to Bristol Credit Union and a weekly Job Seekers Support Group.
Meetings involving residents, businesses, local charities/charitable projects/community groups, and the various government agencies will be held to enable improved and effective use of available resources to tackle the issues in the area.
Room space will be provided at reasonable rates for organisations who themselves are tackling these issues.
Our staff and volunteers at the Staple Hill Community Hub, located on the Pendennis Estate, will act to sign-post residents in need to organisations and others that can help and vice versa.
Our initiatives have been selected and designed as effective measures to help tackle the issues of lack of income and employment, ill health and disability, inadequate education/skills/training, crime and a poor living environment. These are the dimensions of deprivation that have been shown to be relatively high in the neighbourhood and especially so in the Pendennis Road area where The Hub is based.
STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
General disadvantage of the residents of Staple Hill. Specifically, the elderly, the isolated, low-income, unemployed and the vulnerable.
